Like father like son
(Inset) Steven Buchwald has gone from holding his son Travis’ hand on the flightline to his son leading the way. (From left to right) Senior Airman Hans Hock, the senior Buchwald’s son-in-law, now Senior Airman Travis Buchwald and his dad, Senior Master Sgt. Steven Buchwald, walk toward a C-130 from their home unit, the 107th Airlift Wing, Air National Guard, Niagara Falls, N.Y. Steven is the lead production superintendent for the C-130 Aircraft Maintenance Unit at the 386th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, undisclosed location, Southwest Asia. Travis is a crew chief in his squadron, a job the senior Buchwald held when he started his military career 32 years ago. After marrying the senior Buchwald’s daughter Milisa, Hock too decided on a military career. This is Steven’s last deployment before he retires in December and he is thankful that he got to share it with family. “It’s neat to be here with the two boys,” he said.
