Colonel Steven M. Hefferon

Col Steven M. Hefferon is the Deputy Commander of the 107th Attack Wing, Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, New York. He serves as the senior advisor to the Wing Commander on the command, control, and oversight of Operations, Mission Support, and Medical Group functions as well as two geographically separated units.

Col Hefferon enlisted in 1986 and entered the Active Duty Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Communications Specialist assigned to Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina. He transitioned to the Air National Guard in 1988 and was assigned to the 107th Fighter Interceptor Group, Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, New York. In 1992, Col Hefferon graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Social Studies and History. Col Hefferon received his commission in 1994 through the Academy of Military Science and held a variety of assignments at the squadron, group, and wing level, including the 107th Logistics Readiness Squadron Commander, the 107th Comptroller Flight Commander, and the 107th Mission Support Group Deputy Commander. Prior to his current position, Col Hefferon was the 107th Mission Support Group Commander, Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, New York.

Colonel Hefferon deployed to Eindhoven Air Base, Netherlands in 2009, where he served as the Chief of Operations for the Allied Movement Coordination Centre. In this role, he was a key contributor to the International Security Assistance Force mission. During this period, he also forward deployed to Afghanistan to provide direct support to theater operations.
