Col Christopher Weisshaar is the Commander of the 107th Attack Wing, Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, New York. He is responsible for operations, medical, and mission support functions providing a wide range of capabilities that include MQ-9 operations, space command and control, tactical air control party operations, and support to domestic operations as directed by the Governor of New York.
Col Weisshaar received his commission through the United States Naval Academy in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. He was designated as a Naval Flight Officer in 2005 and was assigned to Patrol Squadron 1 at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington. In 2009, he deployed as a Naval Officer in support of a Global War on Terrorism Request for Forces Assignment and augmented Air Force operations with the 745th Expeditionary Special Operations Squadron, Balad Air Base, Iraq.
Col Weisshaar held multiple positions during his naval tenure, including instructor, evaluator, mission commander, and legal officer. In 2013, Col Weisshaar transitioned to the Air National Guard through the 125th Fighter Wing, Jacksonville Air National Guard Base, Florida. In 2020, Col Weisshaar assumed command of the 146th Air Support Operations Squadron, Will Rogers Air National Guard Base, Oklahoma. Col Weisshaar was selected as a National Security Fellow at the Havard Kennedy School in 2022 and held numerous roles at the Air National Guard Readiness Center, including the Manned Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Functional Area Manager, the Deputy Director of Air National Guard Plans and Execution, and the Deputy Director of Strategy, Design, Innovation, and Requirements.
Prior to his current position, the colonel was the 107th Operations Group Commander, Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, Niagara Falls, N.Y.
