Col Christopher Weisshaar previously served as the the Senior Air Reserve Component Advisor Forward, United States Air Force Central Command, serving as the principal forward advisor to the 9th Air Force Commander, Air Expeditionary Wing commanders and over 2,500 assigned Air Reserve Component Airmen. Prior to assuming this role, he was the Deputy Director for NGB A3/10 Air National Guard Plans and Execution, JB Andrews, Md. He was a National Security Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School before assuming his NGB functions. Prior to HKS, he was the commander of the 146th ASOS, responsible for the command and employment of a Special Warfare unit.
Col Weisshaar graduated the United States Naval Academy in 2003. Designated as a Naval Flight Officer in 2005, Col Weisshaar was assigned to VP-1 at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. After completing multiple deployments to the Western Pacific and Southwest Asia, he volunteered for a Global War on Terrorism Request for Forces Assignment with the Air Force. He was assigned to the 745th Expeditionary Special Operations Squadron supporting operations in Iraq. Upon his return to the Navy, he was assigned to VPU-1 at NAS Jacksonville, deploying multiple times to Afghanistan and the Horn of Africa.
Col Weisshaar held multiple positions as instructor, evaluator, mission commander, and legal officer during his naval career. Col Weisshaar joined the Air National Guard with the 125th Fighter Wing in 2013, supporting state and federal counterdrug law enforcement missions as well as Afghanistan and South America deployments. During this period Col Weisshaar was also a police officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. In 2015 he transferred to the National Guard Bureau as the Manned Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Functional Area Manager.
In 2018 Col Weisshaar was assigned to Air Force Warfighting Integration Capabilities (AFWIC) as the Force Design branch chief. In 2020 he assumed command of the 146th ASOS. He was a National Security Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School, and prior to his current position was the NGB A3/10 ANG Plans and Execution Deputy Director.
