Another Stellar year

Wow another banner year for the Niagara Falls City Mission Fund Raiser. Lead by Master Sgt. Steven Buja, members from the 107th Airlift Wing gave, gave and gave some more. In its 21st year, more than $2,500 was raised through various on base fund raisers such as feed a family, dress down days and a table top raffle. The money raise was used to purchase much needed food for the mission that houses and/or feeds the homeless and those that have come upon hard times.
"We did good," said Sgt. Buja." Although we are not at the level of years ago but  we did exceed last year's contributions by $800," he added. New fundraising guidelines have change the way money for charities can be raised on military installations.
During the December UTA members anted up more than $800, allowing 32 families to feast on a traditional Christmas dinner that they otherwise may have gone without. Along with the food, 107th AW members donated and delivered hundreds of pounds of gently used clothing and toys to the mission.
This tradition that is in its third decade needs you, the young Airman not only to continue to donate but to carry on the tradition. Young volunteers are needed to step up and keep this worthy cause alive. Although the fund raising efforts won't begin again until the fall, it's not too early to contact Sgt. Buja and say I care, I want to help, you can count on me. Sgt. Buja can be reached at 236-3090.
